Learning Goal: I’m working on a public health discussion question and need guidance to help me learn. In probability theory and statistics, skew is a measure of the asymmetry of the probability distribution of a real-valued random variable about its mean. The deviation value can be positive, zero, negative, or undefined. For a unary distribution, negative skew usually indicates that the tail is on the left side of the distribution i.e. the median is greater than the mean. The positive deviation indicates that the tail is on the right, meaning that the mean is greater than the median. In cases where one tail is long while the other tail is fleshy, the deviation is not subject to a simple rule. For example, a zero value of the deviation means that the sides on either side of the mean are generally balanced; This is the case for a symmetric distribution, but can also be true for an asymmetric distribution where one tail is long and thin and the other is short but fat.In a normal distribution the mean is exactly equal to the median and the deviation is of course zero. The greater the gap between the mean and the median, the greater the deviation. The closer we get to the mean and the median, the smaller the deviation is. So if I am a researcher, I will make sure to change the data so that it reduces the gap between the mean and the median until it comes close to the normal distribution.References :Doane, D. Open Journal of Statistics, 9(5), 601-621.‏–Those in charge of health care resorted to using the biostatistics method, which expresses theanalysis of a set of patient data, which plays an effective role in reducing the time and effort in reading the patient’s condition. It deviates from the bell curve (the mean), which is also called the normal distribution, and the deviation takes one of the two ways, either positively or negatively. So if we assume a heart patient when he feels pain and goes to the doctor who specializes in heart patients, he makes diagnostic rumors to find out the reasons for that feeling. Then the X-ray results are prepared and brought, which express the results of the deviations, which are outside the normal values, which means the data deviation in the meantime, the doctor can read and diagnose the case Which makes it easier for the doctor to read the data through the degrees of deviation. If the deviation is skewed towards the right and the mean is greater than the median, this means that the sign of the deviation is positive (+), but if the deviation is inclined towards the left and the mean is less than the median, this means that the sign of the deviation is negative ( – )REFERENCE:-Frühwirth-Schnatter, S., & Pyne, S. State agreements and provide additional supportive evidence or examples
Ask additional questions for clarification or provide additional ideas or perspectives on the answer
Advance the participant’s ideas further by providing additional references or support and providing feedback on the participant’s experience or perspectives.
State disagreements, if any, but provide evidence or support, using professional tone and netiquette.
