Prompt: We learned about loglines at the beginning of the course. Now that you’ve gotten a good idea of your own story, let’s revisit. As a reminder, a logline is a one-sentence description of your film. First, you describe the protagonist and his/her/their goal, then follow with a “but” that reveals the obstacle. Example: A suburban dad in the midst of a mid-life crisis quits his job to rediscover joy and seduce a teenage beauty, but both his wife and neighbor want to kill the man he becomes. Following this formula, rewrite your film’s logline now that you’ve gotten a much clearer sense of your film.
Reflect back on the past ten weeks. What was the most challenging part of writing the first 10 pages, and of the course in general? The most enjoyable?
Now that you have profiled your story and written the first sequence, what are your plans for completing the screenplay or using what you’ve learned in this class in another way?
