The sex of an individual, based on his or her biology, is not always the same as their gender, so the terms “sex” and “gender” cannot be interchanged. The term “transgender” is used to describe people who are not assigned a gender at birth or who are not comfortable with it. Transgender people are a strange phenomenon in society. No religion, especially Christianity, Islam, or Judaism, mentions or regulates it. As a result, we regard it as a repugnant phenomenon, and transgender people face difficulties in coexisting, as Jackson Bird points out in his Ted Talk. Jackson describes transgender people as awkward and highlights many of the challenges they face in their daily lives, such as using public restrooms or calling out their new names or pronouns, and people who wonder how transgender people have sex and what kind of equipment they use below the belt, and this will lead us to a controversy beyond that, which is how procreation will take place and the formation of the family, which is the basic pillar of society and the nation.

When I watched the video, I did think to myself as in western society, we are still pretty nervous about talking about gender and sexuality and sex in society. This could be due to religious reasons or just the general awkwardness surrounding these topics. Personally I don’t really care about talking about sexuality and gender because it is natural to wonder about those topics. I feel like everyone should have equal rights and no person should be discriminated against based on race, gender, ethnicity, nationality or disability.
